Baldwin – America’s Favorite Piano
Over the past 150 years, Baldwin Pianos have become America’s Favorite Piano. Baldwin is the only American piano company to make and distribute quality pianos to all price ranges and aspects of the piano market. From handmade Artist Grands, in several sizes and finishes to Professional Uprights and Designer Consoles, Baldwin pianos are among the finest anywhere, at any price. Baldwin pianos are famous for their touch, tone, and durability.
The most important aspect of the Baldwin piano is their scale design. The scale design is the “recipe” for the piano that consists of the materials used and all specifications, including the materials and shape of the soundboard, the placement of the bridges and ribs, the length of the strings and the thickness of the rims and bracing. Baldwin has introduced hundreds of patented elements during their evolution as the leading manufacturer of pianos in the United States. These exclusive piano scale designs are what set Baldwin Piano apart as the best sounding pianos in their class.

Baldwin Upright and Grand Pianos

The Baldwin Piano Company has a long history of creating high quality upright pianos that sound great and last forever. The patented Baldwin scale design is why Baldwin is the best choice over other pianos on the market today from Steinway, Yamaha, Kawai and others.
Baldwin applies the same level of craftsmanship and skill to constructing their award-winning vertical pianos as it does to building its acclaimed full-sized grand pianos for the concert stage. The current lineof Baldwin Vertical pianos clearly displays that ethos in style and musical performance. Baldwin uses the very finest materials and workmanship at a price that makes it affordable for the home, school, house of worship or studio. These instruments offer optimum playability and tone, designed to last for generations. Baldwin captures timeless elegance in highly crafted cabinetry, all enhanced by your choice of gorgeous styles and finishes.
In addition to its elegant looks, Baldwin pianos benefit from dimensions and design required to produce outstanding tone. Baldwin pianos are designed to accommodate a larger soundboard than their Yamaha, Kawai and Steinway counterparts, for a full, powerful sound with remarkable sustain and musicality. Baldwin Scale Designs boast longer string length, enabling a deep bass and rich tone.
The Baldwin piano action is an integral part of Baldwin’s winning-formula scale design as well. Enhanced by the purity and balance of 100% virgin wool hammers, the precise “recipe” to determine optimum shape of soundboard area, bridge placement, and strike points—produces maximum tone and balance across the instruments entire frequency range.
Sound and performance benefit further from the use of premium, resonant tone woods throughout, including a spruce soundboard, solid two-ply beech and maple bridge, spruce ribs and back frame, and multi-ply laminated hard maple pin block. All new Baldwin Pianos come with a 10-year Guarantee.
“It was my pleasure to play four models of Baldwin piano on display. Two of the models, introduced a few years ago, were very affordable uprights priced under $10,000; the other two, released more recently, were mid-level grands priced under $30,000.
... truly marvelous dynamic range across the entire keyboard.
My experiences with Baldwin two decades ago were that the company produced pianos musically inferior to those from Boston, Kawai, and Yamaha; this latest experience demonstrated that Baldwin instruments currently compare very favorably to those brands.”

Schulze Pollmann Handcrafted Italian Pianos
Schulze Pollmann pianos are built to the classic and rigorous criteria of the German school. The wood components for these fine instruments undertake a long seasoning process to obtain exactly the right degree of humidity and stability. Every element in a Schulze Pollmann piano, from the stunning handcrafted cabinetry to the soundboard, action and other essential components, are the finest materials the world has to offer.
The soundboard is made with the superior selection of Red Spruce resonance woods, supplied by Ciresa - Val di Fiemme. This extraordinary spruce grows in the Fiemme valley forests, among the Dolomite mountain range in northeastern Italy and is known as the "tree of music". This rare tonewood is unique in all the world for its resonant properties and is used to manufacture soundboards and tops for the world’s most prized musical instruments.

Antonio Stradivari, history's most famous violinmaker, chose this slow-growing spruce to make his Stradivarius violins, obtaining the extraordinary sound we hear from leading orchestras and the finest violinists worldwide.
The panels of the soundboard are mortised together to guarantee complete solidity and resistance. Each soundboard is slightly curved before it is glued to the wooden frame creating a “soundboard crown”; an exclusive procedure that optimizes resonance and sustain.
The wooden frame of a Schulze Pollmann piano is constructed through a unique and valuable technique that grants the longest stability of the whole structure. In fact, it is made of a single multilayered beech panel, carved on the inside with state of the art CNC machines. A grey cast-iron alloy harp has been designed specifically to be manufactured in a single block with the highest resistance to stress and vibration. Tuning pin holes are drilled with a high-precision computer controlled machines to ensure that all the tuning pins, agraffes and strings are always correctly positioned.
The renowned Delignit pin block is constructed with 15-ply beech and ensures excellent stability and endurance of tuning. Schulze Pollmann manufactures their pianos with the finest Röslau/Degen strings and Renner piano actions. The action and the keyboard are positioned and regulated for perfect balance of leverages. Highly accurate adjustments and settings give a firm and consistently sensitive touch to every Schulze Pollmann piano.
In the final stages of the production process, highly skilled piano tuners and technicians are dedicated to the fine adjustment of sound quality; particularly with the voicing of the hammers as they succeed in bringing musical vitality to each piano. The result is a dynamic, rich, musical sound with outstanding clarity, sustain and power. Thanks to these piano master craftsmen, each piano possesses outstanding uniformity of timbre throughout the entire keyboard. You piano tuner will appreciate the pure and clear tone, free from unwanted vibration or false beats and harmonics.
